We’re supporting Battersea Dogs and Cats Home
Animals and plants are two of nature’s greatest creations. This December, we’re thrilled to be partnering with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, a registered charity in England and Wales that has been giving dogs and cats love and expert care since 1860. From its three centres in the UK, Battersea helps dogs and cats in need, providing every animal with an individual care plan and dedicated support.
As well as rescuing and rehoming through the centres, Battersea works with other rescue organisations and charities to help people make informed choices when getting a pet, and to provide training and welfare advice. Battersea also campaigns for changes to better improve animal welfare.
Patch 💚 Battersea
We're supporting the charity's important work with the help of our pet-friendly plants, and a few of Battersea's newest (and cutest) residents. For every 20-40cm Bertie the Boston Fern, 10-20cm Penny the Chinese Money Plant and Francisco the Christmas cactus sold during December, we'll be donating £1 to the charity. Get to know a few of Battersea's residents below, along with their leafy alter egos.
Meet Penny
Penny the curious kitten is a new resident at Battersea. She arrived with her two siblings Patch and Bertie in November, and is loved for her sweet and playful nature. Her namesake, Penny the Chinese Money Plant, is just as friendly – this non-toxic plant is completely safe for pets, making it a great addition to homes with furry friends.
Meet Francisco
Who could resist these puppy dog eyes? This perfect pup is undeniably sweet. Known to his friends as Kobi, he's embracing a festive alter ego in honour of one of our prettiest pet-friendly plants, Francisco the Christmas cactus. This winter favourite blooms during November and December, and adds a foliage flourish the rest of the year.
Meet Bertie
Bertie is Penny's brother and is as sweet and sociable as his sibling. He's also equally inquisitive, and quickly got acquainted with his leafy doppelgänger, our pet-friendly Boston fern of the same name. This low-maintenance plant is full of personality, making him the perfect match for Battersea's tiny new addition.
How to support Battersea
There are so many ways to support Battersea. You can donate, give a gift to the dogs and cats, fundraise, volunteer, or take on a challenge to raise money. Your support will help Battersea with its important work providing welfare and support to cats and dogs, rehoming and rehabilitating pets in need, sharing expertise with pet owners and campaigning to improve animal welfare.
