Bedside table bliss
Due to those round, flat leaves, Penny, the Chinese Money Plant, has earn't herself many other nicknames, from UFO plant to pancake plant. Whatever you choose to call her, she’s an excellent house guest. She's a compact showstopper that will elevate any bedroom set up.
One of the prettiest of the philodendron family, Leo, the philodendron white wave, has elegant white-and-green striped leaves. He can be used to add some pattern to your urban jungle, or as a stylish little statement on his own.
Cassie, our ZZ plant, is as tough as they come. She’s not fussy and can store water for a long time, meaning she won’t mind if you forget to give her a drink every now and then. If you like a plant that’s sculptural and easygoing, Cassie’s your girl for the perfect table topper.
Aggie, our red Chinese evergreen (related to Anna, our silver version), is an absolute cinch to care for, making her the perfect low maintenance pop of colour for your space. In China, the Chinese evergreen is considered a lucky plant. Who knows if it works, but worth a try, right?
Shady bedroom plants
If you’ve never taken care of a plant before and want an easy start, Susie is the girl for you. In fact, she's 'almost' unkillable - you'd have to try really hard (we don't recommend trying this). She's a great bedroom plant as she stores up oxygen throughout the day, then releases it all at night.
Juliette, the prayer plant, was given its name because its leaves fold together at night, like praying hands. If you’re up early enough, she'll wake up with you and you’ll see those leaves relax at sunrise, to collect all the day’s rays.
Pippa, the peace lily can add a bit of zen to your space thanks to her soft, dark green foliage and year-round flowers. She prefers a shady spot, making her a great option to brighten up those empty corners in your bedroom.
Sun lovers for a bright corner
One of our favourites at Patch, Nicolau, the strelitzia, is the perfect statement piece. In the wild, he grows on hot, coastal parts of Africa and Mexico, so will love to bask in full sun in your bright bedroom corner.
Robin, the rubber plant, gets his name from the white latex coursing through his veins, which was once used to make rubber! Even his handsome, glossy leaves have a thick, rubber-like look. He loves a bright room, and will make a great addition to a well lit bedroom.
Hailing from South America, Phil the Philodendron scandens has stolen our hearts with his lovely heart-shaped leaves. Philo means ‘’loving’ in Greek, while dendron means ‘tree’. Which makes Phil the ‘loving tree’. We an certainly see why!
