• About caladium

  One of the popular names for the caladium is ‘angel wings’, which feels very appropriate. Its leaves are wing-shaped and very fine.

  In the wild, caladiums grow primarily in Central and South America, adding colour to forest floors and river banks. While wild plants tend to like shady spots, as a houseplant it likes somewhere quite bright (UK homes are less sunny than Central America). Put yours in a bright room, but away from very sunny windows. Too much sun can scorch it. If you notice its colour fading, you may have put it somewhere a bit too dark.

  Caladiums would usually go dormant in winter, dropping a couple of leaves to preserve energy. Ours have been specially bred so that they'll keep their leaves through winter, then enter their dormant stage around February.

  When spring arrives they'll wake up and grow again. Help it get big and strong with a monthlyfeedin spring and summer.
