• About dracaena surculosa

  Unlike other dracaena, this variety grows on bamboo-like stems, giving it a distinct appearance. To keep the colourful variegated leaf pattern, pop your plant in a spot that gets plenty of indirect sunlight. Too much sun can burn the leaves and turn them crispy.

  Water your dracaena surculosa when the top two inches of soil feel dry, and a bit less in winter. Avoid using tap water if you can, it prefers to drink rainwater. It’s a slow growing plant at the best of times, but you can give it a bit of a boost with a diluted dose of liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer. If your plant starts to look a bit unruly, you can give it a good chop - it won’t mind.

  Dracena ‘Gold Dust’ loves humidity, so give it a frequent mist or rest its pot on a saucer of pebbles and water. The water will evaporate and create a lovely moist atmosphere around your plant.
