Part of ourrubber plantfamily, ficus ‘Belize’ has thick leaves with beautiful green-and-cream variegation with a warm hint of sunset pink. Deep red veins and stems help make this a really colourful plant. It’s not one for blending in.

The rubber plant gets its name because its sap is white latex, which was once used to make rubber. Its leaves also have a thick, rubbery feel. Native to Asia, it can grow to heights of 60 metres in the wild, with a trunk over two metres in diameter. You won’t find this pink version in the wild, though. This one was specially bred to make your home look fabulous.

As a houseplant, it likes a well lit spot, moist soil, and regular misting to keep the air around it humid. It will also appreciate a feed withliquid fertiliseronce per month in spring and summer.

    Did you know?

In the wild, the rubber tree is exclusively pollinated by a particular species of wasp.
