Why we love pollinator seeds

These seeds produce nectar-rich flowers that bees, butterflies, and other pollinators will love.

    • A sunny spot

Your pollinator plants will be happiest in a spot that gets direct sunlight for at least half the day. They’ll also cope well in dappled shade.

    • Dry soil

These plants aren’t particularly thirsty. Keep them in soil that drains well, and only give them a drink when the top two inches of soil feel dry.

    • Bee friendly

Research shows that bees are more active around pollinators that are planted in full sun. The UV rays give them a clearer landing pattern, helping them find their way to the plant.

  • Sowing seeds is a rewarding way to fill your outdoor space with pollen-producing flowers. Planting these flowers provides a rich source of pollen and nectar, and in return, you can enjoy the company of bees, butterflies, and other pollen-loving creatures.

To grow your flowers, sow the seeds about 5cm apart in potting trays and put them somewhere warm and bright. Keep the soil moist. When sprouts appear, transfer the plants to 8cm pots and wait for them to grow. It should take about 10-14 days for sprouts to appear, then you’ll have mature plants within 90 days.

For best results, sow your seeds before the end of June. You should then get flowers until autumn. Flowers take about 90 days to mature and you can pick them as and when you like to make your own floral arrangements.

If sown in the ground, rather than in a pot, your wildflowers will return year after year, turning your garden into a pollinator paradise.
